Medium Canopy Trees
The GGCP plants over 50 different species of trees. The goal of the program is to reduce household heating and cooling energy use by increasing tree canopy cover in urban residential areas, so large canopy shade trees are our preferred trees to plant.
We plant with the principle of “Right Tree, Right Place” and additional categories of trees enable flexibility while planting in challenging urban conditions. Overhead utility wires, close proximity of other buildings, and other infrastructure limitations require the GGCP to use trees of all shapes and sizes to fit the various planting locations.
All trees are subject to availability and the discretion of the local Urban Forester. If you see a tree you like, let us know! It will help to guide the tree siting process.
